Game 1 vs KBV Tigers

The Big Ugly Yellow Bus Fiasco...after dealing with every obstacle thrown at us The North Shore Generals finally got on the field and took care of business. It is a day few will forget, wrong bus showing up, not enough cars to fit the team in, traveling 3.5 hours crammed into every space we could fit a body and the jerseys not showing up until 7:20. We pre-gamed in the parking lot and stretched on a 45degree incline, but when the whistle blew we made it happen on the field. The offense got the ball and scored early as Shane Cheltenham connected with Keith Lessnar for the 1st score of the day from about 40 yards out. Shawn MacLean added the extra point to make it 7-0. The Tigers roared back down the field with some tough running out of the Double Wing. They punched in the touchdown, but were denied at the goal line for the 2-point attempt, 7-6. The Generals offense kept it going in the 2nd quarter when Shane Cheltenham once again connected with Keith Lessnar on a 30 yard TD strike. Shawn MacLean's extra point made the score 14-6. The Tigers pinned us deep on a muffed punt return and capitalized with a safety making the score 14-8. For the rest of the second and all of the 3rd quarters both teams moved the ball between the 20s, but both Defenses buckled down and kept the offenses out of the end zone. We threw a red zone INT and were stopped on a 4th down attempt from the 4. Our defense had 2 red zone stops, including a big hit on 4th down that turned a made 1st down into Generals' football. About half way through the 4th, with the Tigers driving, the Defense ripped the ball from the Tigers, it was caught in the air by Brian Green who raced it down the sideline for 40 yards and the defensive score, the extra point made it 24-8.

The Generals were able to be victorious because they focused only on what they could control, what happens on the field. Shane Cheltenham stepped in on 2 days notice and played magnificently at QB. The line gave him time and opened the holes for the rbs. The defense was ball hawking and adjusted well to the double wing after the 1st drive. WE had some great individual performances on Saturday, but more importantly the TEAM pulled together when everything was stacked against us and went out there and got the WIN.

The Generals are now preparing for a very tough Divisional opponent, the Bay State Renegades. The game will be played Saturday at 2:00pm at Our new home Manning Field. Please come out and show your support as we look to add to the great football tradition of Lynn and Manning Field.

North Shore Generals at Manning Field!

The North Shore GENERALS are very excited to announce, WE ARE COMING HOME.

The North Shore Generals have worked out a contract with the Manning Field Commission to play all of our 2008 Home Games at the newly rebuilt Manning Field. Manning Field is going to be the newest stadium in the League and a great facility to create a Championship atmosphere for our team.

The spot where Manning Field now sits is very important to a large number of our players. It is where we learned to play the game we love and the place we called our home field while growing up. It also has its own history as many NFL players and local legends have called it home or have played memorable games there. Names like Harry Agganis, Paul Cavanagh, Dick Jauron, Mark Bavaro, Gordon Laro, Greg Landry, Ed Toner, Dan Dufour, Mike Lynch, Coach John Miller and Eric Swan. It also hosted a 1959 NFL game between the Bears & Eagles.

The city of Lynn also has a great Semi-Pro history going all the way back to 1959 with the Black Knights, followed by the Lynn Packers (78), the Bay State Titans (90), and the Lynn Havoc, who were National Champs in 1996. Our team has a connection with all but the Black Nights. One of our coaches was a player for the Lynn Packers in 78, a few of the players were ball boys and water boys for the Titans, and we have 5 players and 2 coaches who were members of the Havoc.

We plan to carry on the tradition and add to the history of this hallowed football ground.

We would like to thank the many people, who helped make this possible:
Mayor Chip Clancy
Mr. John Kasian
Mr. James Marsh
Mr. Joe Driscoll
Lynn Parks & Recreation Department
Lynn DPW
West Lynn Pop Warner
East Lynn Pop Warner
Lynn Chargers Football
North Shore Generals Head Coach - Germaine Sattiewhite
North Shore Generals Captain - Keone Coleman
Mr. Marc Lopes

We also like to thank the many local businesses that have supported and sponsored us in the past. It was your help and support that allowed us to get to year 3 and to our new facility. We hope you feel as you have gained from our partnership and hope to build on our relationship as we work to "Take the Next Step" and Bring Home a Championship.
